Fourth Annual Charity Golf Classic
 Monday, June 21, 2010
 The Country Club of Darien

The NFL Alumni's Connecticut Chapter is delighted to be hosting its Fourth Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, June 21, 2010 at The Country Club of Darien. The third annual event was a major success, generating proceeds that were distributed to many worthy charities in the local area. Some of those included were: The First Tee Program of Connecticut, Circle of Care, Juvenile Diabetes of CT, Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich and Stamford, Fairfield County Sports Commission, Association to Benefit Children (Cody Gifford's House and Cassidy's Place), Giants in the Community, Kids in Crisis, The Appalachia Service Project, The Umbrella Club, The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference (FCIAC), Greenwich Old Timers, Make A Wish Foundation of CT, The Cottage in Darien, The National Fatherhood Initiative, Central High School Leadership Group in Bridgeport, Norwalk Educational Foundation, Building With Books, Center For Hope, Family and Children Agency of Norwalk and The Stewardship Foundation. All charities were selected because they specifically benefit children.

Frank Gifford, New York Giants great and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, will again serve as our Honorary Chairman of the tournament. Other NFL Alumni scheduled to participate in the tourney include Steve Thurlow (Chapter President), Mike Haynes (HOF), Bobby Mitchell (HOF), Dave Herman, Randy Minniear, Mark Gastineau, Bob Lurtsema, Ernie Koy, Bobby Duhon, Don Herrmann, Bob Simms, Skip Lane, Randy Rasmussen, Craig Bingham, Chuck Mercein, Nick Giaquinto, Scott Eaton, Greg Larson, Erich Barnes, Bob Hyland, Karl Swanke, Doug Van Horn and Dick Swatland. The NFL Alumni's motto is "Caring For Kids", and the net proceeds will go to causes that are youth oriented, serving our area. The NFL Alumni Charity Golf Tournament will be a one-day, 18-hole team scramble. Each foursome will be captained by an NFL Alumnus, and the event will include breakfast, lunch, cocktails and an awards dinner. The winning team will advance to the Super Bowl of Golf, the NFL Alumni's National Championship Golf Tournament, which will be held in the spring of 2011 at a top rated West Coast golf resort. They will compete against the winners of the other 32 Chapter Tournaments for the Super Bowl of Golf Ring, a massive gold circlet ring patterned on the NFL's own Championship Ring.
